    • most of the population lives in Dubai (36% and then Abu Dhabi 35%, then Sharjah 16%, the smallest emirate is Umm Al Quwain)
    • Emiratis are only about 11.5% of the population, with Indians (27.5%) and Pakistanis (12.7%) being the most numerous
    • the largest part of the population lives on the coast
    • over 90% of the UAE is essentially deserted
  • The area is 83,600 km2 (slightly larger than the Czech Republic, which has 78,871 km2)
  • The president is Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (ruler of Abu Dhabi)
  • Prime Minister is Sheikh Mohammaed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Ruler of Dubai)
  • The main religion is Islam (76%), followed by Christianity (12.6%), then Hinduism, Buddhism and others
